Section18 - Punishment for attempt to commit an offence :-
Whoever attempts to commit any offence punishable under this Act or to cause such an offence to be committed, and in such attempt, does any act towards the commission of the offence, shall be punished with imprisonment of any description provided for the offence, for a term which may extend to one-half of the imprisonment for life or, as the case may be, one-half of the longest term of imprisonment provided for that offence or with fine or with both.

S18 - किसी अपराध को करने के प्रयत्न के लिए दंड - जो कोई इस अधिनियम के अधीन दंडनीय किसी अपराध को करने का प्रयत्न करेगा या किसी अपराध को करवाएगा और ऐसे प्रयत्न में अपराध करने हेतु कोई कार्य करेगा वह अपराध के लिए उपबंधित किसी भांति के ऐसे कारावास से, यथास्थिति, जिसकी अवधि. आजीवन कारावास के आधे तक की या उस अपराध के लिए उपबंधित कारावास से जिसकी अवधि दीर्घतम अवधि के आधे तक की हो सकेगी या जुर्माने से या दोनों से दंडनीय होगा ।

ऐसा कोई भी अपराध जो यहां पर दिया गया है और उसका दुष्प्रेरण किया जाता है, तो इस अधिनियम के अंदर उस अपराध का जो भी दंड दिया गया है उसके longest part का हॉफ 1/2 कर के दंड दिया जाएगा फिर वो life imprisonment, fine or both क्यों ना हो ।
